Rosalina Evora Obituary

Rosalina Ramos Evora, 80, lovingly referred to as Mae by her children, Vovo by her grandchildren, Mana by her brothers and Né by her friends, passed away on May 11, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA. Rosalina was surrounded by her family throughout her hospitalization and passed away peacefully with her daughters holding and caressing her hands.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands on January 10, 1942 to Antonio Ramos and Maria Fernandes, she lost her mother at a young age and was raised by her father and paternal aunt, Rosinha, both whom she dearly loved and in return loved her. Rosalina was married to Julio Evora for 56 years and was the loving mother to Antonio Evora, Rosa Evora, Francisco Evora, Eduardo Evora, Maria Evora, João Evora and Steven Evora; the loving and adoring grandmother to Brandyn Evora, Daisha Evora, Naython Evora-Rosa, Zabian Evora-Rosa, Maximiliano Ribiero-Evora, Dailiana Evora and Mila Evora and the caring eldest sister of Augusto Ramos and Enrique Ramos.

Rosalina was especially proud of her close relationships with all of her children and every morning without fail, called each of them to wish them a good day. Her grandchildren held the key to her heart, and each had their own special relationship with her. She often stated that their love fed her soul. The beautiful memories of the way she pronounced their names, the small white envelopes that contained their gifts and her famous lollipop chicken that she would regularly make for them, will provide smiles on their faces and warmth in their hearts during the moments that her loss will seem unbearable.

She received so much joy from celebrating every holiday, major milestone and gatherings with her family and friends. Food was always in abundance as she was an amazing cook who was notorious for always having styrofoam containers so that guests could take leftovers home. She was a mother figure to many, and everyone knew that if they were ever hungry, they could always knock on her door and get a hearty meal that had been made with love.

Rosalina courageously immigrated to the United States in 1979 with 6 young children, reuniting the family with Julio who hadimmigrated 6 months prior. In her early years in the US, she was a stay-at-home mother who also provided childcare to the children of her friends. After completing English courses, she entered the workforce and worked at Churchill Linen Services until her retirement.  At Churchill Linen Services, she forgedlifelong friendships which she nurtured until her passing. Outside of work, she also had amazing friends whom she was in regular contact with here in the States and in Cape Verde.

She was cherished and deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be tremendously missed by all those who knew her. She had a calming demeanor that put everyone at ease, and it is only fitting that she left this earth peacefully.
