Jessica R. Wise

WISE, Jessica Ruth, “Jazz” (Kimbrel), age 50, formerly of Boston passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. She graduated from Snowden High School in 1989 and then pursued a cosmetology license from Blaine. Jazz taught herself to cut hair and braid, but her talents in the arts were limitless. She could draw, box, write music, and had an unbelievable singing voice. In 1995, Jessica became a founding member of a Boston entertainment program, UMMF (Us Making Moves Forever) with longtime best friend Cindy Diggs. 

Jessica was instinctively drawn to the music world. She was a member of a group called Prestige, went solo, and had her music played on the radio. She also worked for radio station WZLX.

Her drive was relentless. It reinvented her passion to help the youth of her community through her love of music. She managed a young singing group called Ariel Blue as well as Just Us, Isiah and others.

Jazz founded the True Hip Hop Culture Program out of Codman Square Tech Center and later  English High School. She wanted to stop the violence in her city by getting kids out the streets.  She was able to put on many showcases, events, and musicals that she had written and directed.

Jessica was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend who was loved by all whom she encountered. She was known for her infectious personality met with an angelic smile followed with a sly comment that was guaranteed to make you smile. Jazz loved being surrounded by loved ones. She was always initiating family gatherings because family meant everything to her.

She is survived by her parents (Linda Hamilton and Carter Kimbrel), daughter (Kiarra Wise), granddaughter (Sarai), brother (Ethan), sisters (Zakiyyah, Ronice, and Jordine),and a host of family and friends.
