Jeanette Bigby was born on November 9, 1954, in Atlanta, GA to the late Bobby Bigby Sr. and Geraldine Bigby of Conyers and Johnson County GA.
In 1964, Jeanette relocated to Boston, MA with her mother and five siblings. After arriving in Boston, they continued to worship at The United House of Prayer For All People where she was a member of the church choir. Jeanette was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Girls’ High School in 1972. Upon graduation she attended Wilfred Beauty Academy where she received an Honorary Diploma. She then went on to the Mass School of Barbering where she successfully received her Barber’s license.
Among her family and friends, Jeanette was known for speaking her mind and being her own person. She was fiercely protective of her family and took great pride in being Nana to her eight grandchildren.
Jeanette was an avid music lover, and was particularly fond of The Whispers, The O’Jays, The Gap Band, Freddie Jackson, and Teddy Pendergrass. She was known for being the life of the party and could usually be found on the dance floor during most family gatherings.
Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Geraldine Bigby; her three children Yolanda Williams (Anthony), Tamekka Higginbottom (Darrell) and George Rainey; her eight grandchildren, Maurice Williams, Jamal Williams, Fernando Williams, Kenneth Williams, Davonte’ Higginbottom, Daija Higginbottom, Gamai Rainey, and Graysun Rainey; four great grandchildren Kylani Williams, Kylianni Williams, Kenneth Williams Jr. and Kamron Williams; three siblings Joyce Houston, Bobby Bigby II, and Michael Bigby; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father Bobby Bigby Sr., brothers Zandara Bigby and Eric Bigby; and one Sister-in law Vanessa Bigby.
Visitation for Jeanette Bigby will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, with a starting time of 10:00AM located at House of Prayer 206 Seaver St. Boston, MA 02121.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM, following the visitation. Proceeding from the services will be interment to Cedar Grove cemetery in Boston, MA.
