Gary Holman, Sr

Gary Holman, Sr., of Roxbury, MA, passed away December 28, 2021.
Beloved father of Tanesha Holman, Gary Holman, Jr., and Tayla Holman Roman (Manuel). Loving grandfather of Mateo Isaiah Roman.

Gary was born on September 23, 1954, to the late Alvis Sr. and Eva "Terry" Holman. He was predeceased by his sister Pamela Holman and brother Ronald "Ronnie" Holman.

Gary graduated from Dorchester High School in 1972. He worked for many years in Client Services at Boston City Hospital, in Customer Service at Cablevision of Boston and, most recently, at Neptune Garment Company.

He and his former wife Janice Holman (née Jones) were married for twenty-five years. Their marriage produced three wonderful children whom he loved dearly and was immensely proud of.

Gary was known for his dry wit and charm, his love of music, reading, television, movies, Boston sports and, most of all, for his devotion to his family. He was knowledgeable about a wide array of subjects and was always ready and willing to engage in a friendly debate on almost any topic. His social media posts with his children, nieces and nephews are legendary within the family. He was regarded by a number of his nieces and nephews as "my favorite Uncle Gary."

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, son-in-law, and grandson, his sisters Linda McAdoo and Robin Smith (Steve), brothers Alvis, Jr. "Jay" and Dennis Holman (Shawn), companion Quinthella Green, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held January 10, 2022, at George Lopes Funeral Home, 821 Cummins Highway, Mattapan, MA 02126, beginning with a visitation at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
