Albert Toliaferro Obituary

Albert Rudolph (Rudy) Toliaferro was born on April 29, 1953, in Mercer County, West Virginia.  Rudy departed this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the age of 69, he passed peacefully.

Rudy was the son of the late Vivian Gatewood and the late Robbin Gatewood.

Rudy was a graduate of Boston Trade High School, after high school he attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology. Rudy then shadowed his uncle Herbert (Herbie) Lomax, which provided him the opportunity to learn the trade of plastering walls and ceilings that consisted of insulation and painting.  Rudy and his uncle worked closely together for years in the 1970s and he continued the trade while working with his uncle Emanual (Manny) Lomax in the late 80s and 90s.  Rudy also worked at Northeastern University and then Freddy Parkers before becoming employed at Boston Edison, Boston, Massachusetts in 1974 where during his tenure he worked as a Power Lineman then retired in 1992.   Rudy later became self-employed after retiring from Boston Edison driving a limousine in Boston in the early 2020’s.

Rudy was loving, kind, caring and protective of his family and friends.  Family and friends would call on him, and if he could make it happen, he would. He was funny and always had nicknames for all of us.  He had a warm smile that was so bright that he would ignite any space he was in.  I am sure we all can reflect on fond memories.  He was broken at times through wordly ways, but he knew that God was his Boss.

Rudy is preceded in passing this life, leaving his surviving family behind to cherish his memory.  He is survived by his eldest son Attila Pride and younger son Albert Toliaferro, Jr., his grandchildren Zion, Zamora, and Makari; his brothers Randolph (Randy) Toliaferro (Rebecca), Ronnie Davis (Linda), and Richard (Ricky) Gatewood; sisters Robin Nelson (Leonard) and Renee Gatewood-Pullum (Raymond), Audrey Pride the love of Rudy’s life; aunts, uncles, cousins, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many other loving extended family members and friends.  He will be deeply missed.
