Thomas D Adams

Mr. Thomas D. Adams, 67, of Brockton, MA died November 6, 2019. He was born April 22, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Boston, MA. He is the son of the late Marie T. Adams and David B. Adams.

Thomas attended Brighton High School in Boston and left High School in his 3rd year to join the United States Navy and served as a Sea Man.  He was honorably discharged in 1970 and received the National Defense Service Medal. Thomas worked at the Main-Spring House and the Brockton VA Medical Center.

Thomas met his wife Rachel in Boston in 1989, they fell in love and were united in matrimony in 1990. In 1991, their union produced a beautiful baby. Due to unknown causes baby Adams passed away shortly after birth.

His wife Rachel affectionately called him; Bert short for Berttonineno. He loved his Black Italian name (if there is such a person), given to him by his Mama.  He also loved calling his wife Rachel, “Rachel Rae”. He was known by his friends as, “Burkie”, but his family such as his sister Tahona called him “Berkie”.  

Thomas was a sweet soul and a “gentle” man. Thomas had a quiet and charismatic personality.  Thomas loved listening to “oldies but goodies” music and taking long rides on his electric bicycle. When he was really feeling playful you might catch Thomas doing a wheelie riding down the street.  Thomas took pleasure in routinely cleaning, ironing and changing the sheets for “Rachel Rae” every Thursday.  

Thomas is preceded in death by his mother Marie T. Adams, father David B. Adams, and a sister Terri Phyllis Adams. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife Rachel Cherry-Adams, uncle Alfred Payton (Philadelphia), Sisters Ta’Mar Sernovya Adams (California), Tahona Michelle Epperson husband Steve Epperson (Arizona). Thomas is also survived by 3 children Larry Ross (Boston), Joi Adams (North Carolina), and Phyllis Terri Adams (North Carolina) [named after her late Aunt], 8 grandchildren and Nephews David J. (DJ) Daluz (Arizona), Desmond Epperson (Arizona), Orlando Russell (Arizona), Niece Tasili Epperson (Arizona), Spiritual Godfather Samuel Finlayson (Canada), and a host of cousins across USA including Philadelphia, Florida and Virginia. Lastly, his Brockton family who embraced him, Brother Alvin wife Diane Davis and Uncle Vetchel and Auntie Delores Hudgins.
