Muhammad, Marzuq Umar Robert of Boston, MA passed on May 20, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Beloved son to Abdullah Alif Muhammad and Janean T. Muhammad. He was a loving husband to Mary Alexandre and a dear father to Amir and Amari Muhammad. 

He leaves his brothers and sisters, Nadirah, Raushanah, Sahirah, Quadir, Mujihad and Wadi. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish his memories. 

Graveside services with family on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Knollwood Memorial Park, 319 High Street, Canton, MA 02021.

Obituary

On Sunday, May 20, 2018, Marzuq Umar Robert Muhammad, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and devoted member of the Muslim community returned to Allah at the age of 35 years.  

Marzuq was born to Abdullah Alif and Janean T. Muhammad on November 24,1982 in Boston, Massachusetts with his twin brother Mujihad.  He attended the James P. Timilty Middle School and graduated high school from Noble and Greenough School in 2001. Marzuq loved his experience at Nobles where he was a very active participant in campus life.  He was a standout athlete and enjoyed playing football, rowing, and wrestling. He attended Dartmouth College, graduating in 2005 with a B.A. in Geography.  Following graduation he spent a year teaching in the Republic of the Marshall Islands and then excitedly returned to Nobles as a Teaching Fellow, where he taught Middle School Social Studies, coached JV lacrosse, wrestling, and assisted in the Diversity Initiatives Office.  As he moved on to future endeavors, Marzuq remained a vital part of the Nobles community.  He returned as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Buildings Committee and Achieve Committee.  He also co-chaired the Graduates of Color Committee and served on the Graduates Council. 

Marzuq had a successful career in real estate development spanning over 10 years. He started his career at Jones Lang Lasalle and was most recently employed at Trinity Financial as a project manager.  

Marzuq lived a life devoted to serving others and dedicated to leadership for the public good.  In addition to his commitment to Nobles, he was an active member of Masjid Al-Quran.  He also volunteered at Citizen Schools and served on several committees including, the Roxbury Strategic Master Plan Oversight Committee, the development committee for Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation, and the Fairmount Indigo Planning Initiative (FIPI) Corridor-wide Advisory Group.  Additionally, he served on the Board of Trustees at the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School and the Museum of African-American History.

Almost five years ago on May 25, 2013, Marzuq married the love of his life Mary. They lived together in Roxbury, MA.  He was the proud father of two young sons; Amir (3 years old) and Amari (7 weeks old). Marzuq’s faith, family and community were the most important aspects of his life. 

Marzuq will be forever remembered by his loving wife Mary, and their sons Amir and Amari, his parents Abdullah Alif and Janean and in-laws Francois and Mathilde Alexandre, his grandmother Georgiana Varona, his siblings, Nadirah, Raushanah, Sahirah, Quadir, Wadi and his twin brother Mujihad. Marzuq was also a very involved and caring uncle to Xavier, Alexia, Kellyon, Tahira, Saida, Kamal, Khalif, and Laila. Marzuq leaves a host of relatives including his uncle, aunts, cousins, other extended family and friends to cherish his memories
